Project news: Tumblon approaching prime time

Luke and I have been working on Tumblon for quite a while now, along with Graham Scharf. We’ve built a prototype, raised investment, partnered with content sources, changed requirements (unfortunately), and worked with Livefront to get a fantastic design.

We deployed the new design, along with dozens of other changes, on Friday, and we’re gearing up for launch. In the meantime, the site is free and open, so take a look at http://tumblon.com.

So what is Tumblon, and why does it exist? More than 90% of a person’s brain growth occurs between birth and age 5. Neural connections made during this time are exceedingly important. And parents are best poised to help a child develop during this time.

Enter Tumblon. Tumblon provides an interactive snapshot of a child’s development, to help parents understand and nurture their child’s growth. Sign up for Tumblon, and within 5 minutes you can learn where your child is developmentally, what’s coming next, and what you can do to help.

Tumblon also lets parents record memories, photos, and stories, and lets them share this with family and friends via a private blog. For an example, take a look at my Tumblon blog.

Finally, we have great public content, from resources for parents to featured blogs, including one by Gladys Hunt, author of the classic book Honey for a Child’s Heart.

Many more changes are coming, from new content to new features to better usability. But if you’re a parent of a young child, take a look and let us know what you think!
